Kiki’s Corner: What a trip to Greece has in store

Hello everyone, here I am again writing about Greece. Last week, I received three phone calls. One was from New York City, where they are planning a trip to Greece in July, another family from Colorado where they are taking their family of six to Greece and they wanted to know what islands we suggest they should visit and what is the best food and entertainment, and the third call was from a couple that got married in the winter and had decided to wait till later in the summer to go on their honeymoon, and of course they wanted to visit Greece. It is very common for us to receive five to 10 calls per year asking us what islands and cities they should visit. There is so much to see and do that at one time I thought we should charter a plane and Francis and I should be the tour guides and go to Greece. Besides that, they want information about Greece; they want to know when we will be there, so we can show them the highlights of the islands and all the historical places.
It really kills me when people visit Greece just for the islands and miss out on the incredible places and my favorite places. I can actually spend weeks and weeks there, such as Monemvasi, Nafplio, Meteora, Delfi, etc. But the islands are truly breathtaking, and I will mention some of the most popular ones. I cannot say which ones are my favorite because I have so many that I love, and one is better than the other. Some of the beaches don't even look real. If you're planning a 2026 summer vacation, you need to save some extra money to visit some of those islands. Greece has thousands of beaches, but these are some of the most striking otherworldly landscapes on the planet.
If any of you readers traveled and or are planning to travel to Greece, here are some of my favorite Greek islands.
Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, IOS, Skiathos, Samos, Sifnos, Corfu, Rhodes, Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Hydra, Patmos, etc. All of them are unique and special; they have their own lifestyle and nightlife, delicious food and beautiful beaches. They gather millions of tourists from all over the world. Tourists are always welcome and well appreciated by the Greek people.
Of course, I'm very proud, and I love Athens, Greece, because I was born there, and there is so much history, not only in Athens, but every part of Greece has its own part of history. I don't remember how many times we have been to the island of Mykonos. Mykonos is a place that doesn't explain itself, doesn't justify itself... some destinations try to impress others, but don't need to. Mykonos belongs to the latter. Everything feels intentional, no effort to prove anything. Just constant energy and the balance between simplicity, you won't find validation here; you will find a state of mind. It's truly an experience. You want to hear something funny? The bars don't open until midnight, and they stay open until the sun comes out and they are packed with young people. Some places give you a break, others change your rhythm. Mykonos does exactly that, without explanation. Everything feels more intense: the colors, the energy around you, not because it tries to impress, but because it's naturally that way; it's a kind of place that doesn't tell you what to do but makes you want to live more fully, more freely. Every sunset feels like the beginning of something unforgettable. Some places are not just visited. They are felt, Mykonos and Santorini are among them.
Greece is ranked the most beautiful country in the world for 2026. It is a place where history, culture, nature, and hospitality come together, like nowhere on earth. A country that gave the world the philosophy of democracy and the Olympic Games, a country blessed with thousands of islands, incredible cuisine and some of the most stunning landscapes on the planet! From the white walls of villages to the breathtaking monasteries of Meteora, from the crystal-clear water of the Ionian Sea to the timeless wonder of the Acropolis, Greece continues to inspire millions around the world.
