I just received a 4-page letter from the governor of West Virginia, who is requesting money so he can be elected to the United States Senate.
He says he is ready to roll up his sleeves and work for the people as he always has. Really, I have lived in this state all the years he has been governor, and I do not see much that he has done.
West Virginia is still at the bottom of the list of states for many things like teacher salaries. He has signed bills to take our taxes for public education for home schooling or private schools. I have driven on terrible roads for years. Recently I've seen and felt smoother riding as money from President Biden's help is beginning to fix a bridge near my home that should have been fixed at least 5 or 6 years ago.
He is taking all the credit for the highway improvements and the expansion of broadband access when again this was accomplished because of federal dollars. Oh, yes, he said, he improved schools. What mountain hill did he slip and fall over? Things are not good in the Wood County schools, I think I am reading about issues in other counties.
Yes, he is proud to have signed a law to protect the unborn. This shows me he has no concern for women, the right to make decisions for their own bodies, nor respect for their lives. He may respect the unborn, but has not done much to help bring children out of poverty. The quality of life is not very evident in many counties of this state. The schools and prisons in this state are way below conditions for fellow human beings.
The governor speaks like the person who endorsed him. He has called his opponent, "a worthless Democrat." He accuses Democrats of trying to smear him and lie to confuse the voters. In the next paragraph he tells me he has worked hard and long for the people, interests and concerns of the state. The people he has worked for are those who own the coal mines, the pharmaceutical companies, the oil and gas companies. Why under his watch has the state lost so many people that we lost a seat in the House of Representatives?
I have not checked the amount of education that our governor has had in science, but I think any reasonable person can see and feel that we are in a climate crisis. Yes, we need to spend TRILLIONS of our tax dollars to fund green energy. It is sad that a man who wants to work for us is really working for the few who have all the money, clean drinking water and live in areas free of chemically polluted water, air and soil.
If I recall Bernie Sanders got quite a few votes when he ran in 2016. It seems to me the first time Jim Justice ran for governor, he was on the ballot as a Democrat. He is not to be trusted because he switched parties and bought the ideas and practices of the former President. Yes, I voted for him the first time but was betrayed when he changed mid term. How can you trust someone who openly lies to you?
Yes, I would encourage all to vote for Glenn Elliott for Senator who worked to improve Wheeling, W.Va.
