Letter to the Editor: Keep Wendy Tuck serving District 4

How many of us in Wood County are invited to monthly meetings with our city council member or any elected official for that matter?
When I hear of people coming from Charleston or Washington they usually go visit some business or person who will make a large donation to their campaign. From what I have observed, Wendy Tuck, the councilor for the 4th District in Parkersburg, has monthly meetings with the residents, holds weekly office hours at local restaurants, and sends out newsletters to help residents improve their neighborhood.
So what has happened in District 4 for the last three and a half years? As reported by the News and Sentinel and WTAP TV the city Code Enforcement and the Building Enforcement Agency have been working together to identify, improve or demolish blighted buildings. The city has repaired or replaced grates, curbs, sidewalks and filled potholes.
More residents are involved in the Neighborhood Watch, and new families are beginning to move into the area because families are assisted with the City's Emergency, Minor Home repair and Down Payment programs.
The district has conducted 11 community clean-ups.
Through the effort of Wendy Tuck, she was awarded a grant from Re-Imagine your Community so that four households can receive $500 to improve their yards Re-Imagine Your Community a tool kit prepared by ReImagine Appalachia, whose vision is "We believe in a future where our neighbors see themselves in this changing economy, and believe a better life is plausible, regardless of race, gender or social status." The application for the $500 to improve your yard is due by May 13, 2024.
If you want District 4 and the City of Parkersburg to continue to move forward, re-elect Wendy Tuck for District 4 City Council.
