Letter to the Editor: Some clarifications

Since some want to misconstrue what I have written, let me explain a couple of things. I am a born again Christian who believes that Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins, offers the free gift of salvation. I believe that God is sovereign and in control of all things. I do not hate people, although admittedly it is difficult not to sometimes, but I cannot agree with lifestyles which are continually thrown in our face and want acceptance as being normal. A lifestyle that God says is wrong is still wrong. I write to defend my faith, just as others defend their beliefs.
I stated that whales do not have souls, and another writer has misquoted Jonah 2:1 (KJV), which says, "Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the "fish's" belly." Any scholar (not me) recognizes that God prepared a great fish, the type not stated, to do the task associated with Jonah. As for whales maybe having souls, Genesis 1:27 (KJV) says, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Whales are not created in God's image and do not have souls.
As for the unborn not having souls, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
Luke 1:44 (KJV) records that, when John the Baptist's mother, still carrying John, came in the presence of Mary, still carrying Jesus, "For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy." A babe in the womb, without a soul, cannot leap for joy when in the presence of anyone. An unborn child receives a soul at conception.
I do not presume that all climate change activists are atheists and never said that. Yes, plastics are a problem and as another writer suggested, make them bio-degradable or easily recycled. I can support that.
I am about protecting the earth as much as anyone. But, God is Sovereign and in control. If you do not believe that, it is your right. I believe that He is in charge and does not need our help. If some want to eschew plastics, do it.
