Russell E. Weiss, 90, of New Albany, Indiana (formerly of Belpre, Ohio), passed away peacefully at Green Valley Care Center on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Russ was born on March 24, 1936, and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beryl Weiss. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Connie (Eddy) Weiss; his children, Larry Weiss (Lucy), Bryan Weiss (Kathy), and Sherry Weiss; his grandchildren, Haylee Cadigan (Dave) and Allyson Fritchley (Eric); and his great-grandchildren, Joseph Cadigan and Elena Cadigan.
A graduate of Marietta High School (1954) and Marietta College (1958), Russ served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and retired from Chevron Chemical in 1992. He was a longtime member of Belpre Congregational Church and later joined St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
In his early retirement years, Russ devoted much of his time to helping his aging parents. In his free time, he enjoyed working on and restoring classic cars, attending car shows with Connie, swap meets, and cruise-ins. He shared his passion for automobiles--especially vintage Mustangs--with his sons and was a proud, longtime member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Mustang Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Charlestown, Indiana, on Friday, July 31, 2026. He was laid to rest in the St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery.
