Nancy Elane Bush, 74, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. Born on July 3, 1951, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Nancy was a woman of faith with a uniquely resilient spirit.
A caregiver by nature, Nancy dedicated much of her life to others, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1971 with the intent of serving her country, followed by a career working as a nurse in facilities and private homes to provide comfort to the elderly. She possessed a heart of profound generosity and was known to sacrifice her own comfort to help anyone in need.
Nancy was a restless soul who walked many paths. While she didn’t always find it easy to stay as close to her family as she might have liked, her love for them remained a constant. In her earlier years she loved to travel, but often found happiness in a challenging crossword puzzle or a thoughtful crochet project; more recently, it was the simple comfort of a favorite Dum Dums sucker that always brought a smile to her face.
Nancy is survived by her sons, David (Traci) of New Bern, NC, and Timothy (Jeanetta) of Pataskala, OH; ten grandchildren: Venice, Mackenzie, Cody, Vanessa, Zachary, Brandon, Tyler, Morgan, Jordan, and Gavin; and her sisters, Martha (Dale) Archer and Cynthia (Ken) Hagerman, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Wilma Cross; and her sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Lyle Gates.
Services will be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Waverly near the family farm on Saturday, June 27th, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial. After the interment, family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial luncheon, with the location to be shared at the service.
