Connor George and Ryordan McKinney, members of Scout Troop 3 in Parkersburg, became the 136th and 137th Eagle Scouts in the troop last month. Both Scouts received their awards on April 30, 2026 in a ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg.

Boy injured in fall off bridge at Woodridge

MINERAL WELLS – A young boy fell off a bridge at Woodridge Plantation early Wednesday evening causing serious injuries. The call came over the emergency radio system around 5 p.m. of a 9- to 10-year-old boy who fell 16-feet off of a bridge to the rocks below, dispatchers said. The boy was breathing, but severely injured. Crews called for a helicopter but it could not launch due to weather conditions, radio traffic indicated. Hand count completed, officials await to see if there will be a recount

PARKERSBURG – The county’s primary election results have been finalized and a wait is underway to see if there will be a recount. At around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, the hand count of three randomly picked voting precincts, 32, 82 and 56A, was completed and the results for the primary election were certified, Commission President Blair Couch said. “We are completed and certified, opening a 48-hour window for (Bill) Anderson to request a recount,” he said.
