Parkersburg Catholic High School preparing for 70th anniversary gala

PARKERSBURG -- Parkersburg Catholic High School is celebrating its 70th anniversary by hosting the Platinum Gala on March 15 starting at 6 p.m.
The event is black tie optional with tickets at $70 per person.
The gala will be held at the Parkersburg Country Club on 4910 River Road, Vienna, and will include hors d'oeuvres, music and an open bar for beer, wine and cocktails.
The event will commemorate 70 years of education and religious history.
"The highly anticipated event will not only commemorate seven decades of faith, excellence and community but will also serve as a vibrant celebration of the incredible students, families and educators who make our school what it is today," said Advancement Director Tara Nelson. Guests who attend the gala can expect a wide range of engaging activities including a photo booth, a display of the school's memorabilia and school history with music provided by DJ Curt Plummer.
Since the high school's establishment in 1955, faith and education has been accessible for students with the desire to pursue service and leadership.
"The gala is more than just an evening of entertainment," said Nelson. "It's a testament to our school's legacy and a commitment to the future of Catholic education in our community."
The gala will also serve as a fundraiser for the Parkersburg Catholic Schools as a way to support facility upgrades, student programs and staff salaries.
"This is a great way to celebrate our current families and our alumni together," said Elementary Principal Katy McLean. "Seventy years of Catholic education in Parkersburg is a great accomplishment and we are excited to celebrate our past and our future."
McLean reflects on previous years as the school has grown and evolved. The gala commemorates history and faith-based education that has allowed staff and students to give back to the community.
The "Blueprint for the Future" capital campaign has a goal to raise $1,000,000 by Nov. 1, 2026. Proceeds from the gala go towards the campaign as a way to invest in the future of the school with a focus on curriculum and student success.
Started in 2023, the campaign is expected to raise enough to expand the curriculum in areas such the arts, STEM, foreign language and robotics. There are also goals to update the facility and its security.
