MINERAL WELLS -- A local man was killed in a fatal single-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning in Mineral Wells, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
In a post made on the department's Facebook page, 911 dispatched deputies to a single vehicle fatal crash at 2:22 a.m. Wednesday.
John Diamond, 48, 205 Left Fork of Buck Run Road, was driving a Chevrolet 2500 southbound on Southern Highway near Oakwood Drive, the post said. Diamond's vehicle exited the right side of the roadway, struck a guy wire for a utility pole, then struck a tree.
Diamond was pronounced dead on scene.
He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The investigation is still ongoing, the sheriff's department reported.
