NEW MARTINSVILLE -- Wetzel County has been classified as medium on the CDC's COVID Community Levels system.
In counties labeled medium, it's recommended that people at greater risk of severe illness wear a high-quality mask or respirator in indoor public settings. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issue the levels on Thursday afternoons, based on the number of new cases per 100,000 people and hospital capacity statistics for the preceding seven days.
All other area counties were classified as low, where people at greater risk of significant illness are advised to consult with a health care provider about what precautions to take.
