PARKERSBURG 鈥� Discovery World on Market will hold a community night from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at its new Ember Theatre.
The renovations of the theater space on the fourth floor of the interactive children's museum on Market Street in downtown Parkersburg were phase two of the development of Discovery World, which opened in 2023.
"Thanks to the generous support of private donors, the City of Parkersburg, Delegate Scot Heckert, and an earmark from (former) Senator Joe Manchin, renovations are now complete and the theatre is open for business," said Wendy Shriver, executive director of Discovery World on Market. "We are thrilled to partner with our community to host a ribbon cutting and give everyone the opportunity to see what this space can offer."
The Ember will also be hosting its first event on Saturday, Feb. 14, with a comedy and dinner show featuring the Fearless Fools, a West Virginia comedy troupe, specializing in a high-energy blend of improv comedy. Tickets are on sale at www.dwonmarket.org/theember.
