Parkersburg Art Center goes crazy fir Christmas tree exhibit

PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Art Center has once again transformed its galleries with the return of the annual Artist Trees Exhibit.
The display debuted during Shop Small Saturday and will remain on view through Dec. 20.
Each year, staff, volunteers, artists and local school groups are challenged to decorate a tree inspired by a well-known artist or iconic work of art. Beside every tree, visitors will find signage with a brief art history snapshot, introducing the artist, illustrator or sculptor who inspired the work.
There is also a canister to vote for favorites with donations. The funds raised through the Artist Tree exhibit will be used to support the free Saturday Arty Parties starting in January and the upcoming Senior Arts Day to be held in February.
This year's interpretations span children's illustrators, architects, classic painters, sculptors, local makers and more. Featured inspirations and artists include:

* Judith Scott -- Artbeat Studio

* Rembrandt -- Kelley Cartwright and Kasey Snyder
* Ann Weber -- Eryn Gray
* Ryan Fowler -- Abby Hayhurst
* Nathan Sawaya -- ArtStart Preschool
* Simon Bull -- Jennifer Carpenter
* Frank Lloyd Wright -- Bonnie Proudfoot and Stained Glass Class

ISpy sheets are available at the front desk to guide young visitors as they explore the exhibit's details.
While visiting the PAC, guests can also enjoy two additional exhibits: the WV Watercolor Society's "Anything Goes: Wild Things" show and the art of Debbie Lestor, both on display through Dec. 20. There is also a Lego Build station on the mezzanine where families can relax and create together.
