MUSIC
* Advent choir service
An "Advent service of lessons and carols" will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 14 at First United Methodist Church, on the corner of 10th and Juliana streets in Parkersburg.
For the service, four local churches will come together to form a choir under the direction of James Sundquist, choir director and organist at First United Methodist. Other participating churches will be Logan Memorial United Methodist, Emmanuel Baptist and Stevenson United Methodist.
Friends of the choirs are also expected to join the congregation.
* Christmas concert
PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg High School A Cappella and Chamber choirs will present their 93rd annual Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, in the PHS auditorium.
The choir will continue to honor the tradition of the "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" candlelight processional and the choir's legacy with the combined singing of the "Hallelujah Chorus" with members and alumni. The concert is free for the public. A cookie reception will follow in the cafeteria.
EVENTS
* The Miracle of Jesus
The Miracle of Jesus will be presented from 6-8:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at One Church PKB, 1900 St. Mary's Ave., Parkersburg.
During the two-hour interactive event, families will go back in time to Bethlehem to celebrate the birth of Jesus, travel through the Bethlehem marketplace, share multisensory experiences and discover the impact of Jesus' birth and life.
A petting zoo, cookies and hot chocolate, train ride, treasure map, photo opportunities, prizes and snow will be available.

SERVICES
* Christmas Eve service
Stout Memorial United Methodist Church at 34th and Broad streets, Parkersburg, will hold a traditional candlelight service at 11 p.m. Dec. 24. There will be special music from the choir and the lighting of candles as the congregation sings "Silent Night."
SALES
* Cookeez Sale
PARKERSBURG -- The annual "Cookeez" sale at First Lutheran Church, 1701 19th St., will be Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Gathering Space.
There will be a selection of homemade cookies, breads, and candies, as well as other holiday treats. First Lutheran crafters have been busy and will have many new Christmas craft items available.
