* Organ program by Robert Troeger
Concert organist Robert Troeger returns to First Congregational Church UCC, 318 Front Street, Marietta, with another organ program for Advent-Christmas at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. Troeger is a resident of Wheeling, where he completed 35 years as organist-music director of St. Matthew鈥檚 Episcopal Church and is adjunct professor of fine arts at Wheeling University.
His program will feature some traditional classics for the Advent-Christmas season such as Bach鈥檚 "Come, Savior of the Nations." He will also add some colorful later-composted music. The program will also include carols for audience participation and seasonal poetry readings. All are welcome. There will be a free will offering.
* Advent choir service
An "Advent Service of Lessons and Carols" will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at First United Methodist Church, on the corner of 10th and Juliana streets in Parkersburg.
For the service, four local churches will come together to form a choir under the direction of James Sundquist, choir director and organist at First United Methodist. Other participating churches will be Logan Memorial United Methodist, Emmanuel Baptist and Stevenson United Methodist.
Friends of the choirs are also expected to join the congregation.
