First United Methodist Church offering fraud and scam recognition program

PARKERSBURG -- First United Methodist Church of Parkersburg will hold a free luncheon and program aimed at educating seniors on how to recognize, avoid and report suspected fraud and scams at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1.
Part of the church's new Young at Heart seniors ministry, the program will be presented by agents from the Charleston office of the FBI. Lunch will be provided by Circles, an area nonprofit that mentors adults in need of life changes.
Future Young at Heart luncheons are planned for summer and fall with programs designed to both entertain and educate. Examples include a local attorney discussing estate and end-of-life planning, performances by local musicians, a presentation on the history of Parkersburg's theaters and presentations by city economic development officials.
