Williamstown church to hose Chicken Pie Dinner Neighbor Night

WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Presbyterian Congregation in Williamstown will hold a Chicken Pie Dinner Neighbor Night from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the church, 314 W Fifth St., Williamstown.
The dinner will take place in the church fellowship hall. All proceeds will benefit the Mid-Ohio Valley Parkinson鈥� Support group, specifically scholarships towards the non-profit Rock Steady boxing program.
The menu will include homemade chicken pie (local recipe), mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, dessert and beverage. Take-out will also be available for pick up. The suggested donation is $12 per person, $20 per couple and $6 for those under 10.
"This initiative is part of the congregation鈥檚 living into its Presbyterian Christian roots, especially connecting to Presbyterian saint Fred Rogers who reminds us 'I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I鈥檝e always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you' and 'Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person,'" said Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown and Waverly-Bethel Presbyterian Church.
"Like Jesus, who often gathered people together to share a meal, we also want to add to that kind word, a wholesome meal. Each year the congregation creates a program and fundraising opportunity to support an effort that reflects the spirit of Rogers, who we believe would lift up the strength and courage of many facing Parkinson鈥檚 and be delighted at this effort to bring our community together for good. And so again, neighbors, won鈥檛 you join us," Campbell-Maleke said.
