PARKERSBURG -- Vision became reality Thursday when a gospel bluegrass group originally from southern West Virginia performed at a local church.
Revelation Fellowship GMC played host to Chosen Road at its new location, 2807 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg.
According to a release from the church, administrative team member Eric Rinehart had a dream and vision of bringing the group to the new church for a Christmas concert in December. When contact was made this fall, it turned out the group had a couple of dates left for December.
The concert was free for attendees but reservations were required through a ticket site because space was limited to 225 people, the church said.
"Every ticket was reserved, with people coming (from) as far as Bridgeport," the release said.
Founding members Jonathan Buckner and Zachary Alvis are joined by Tyler Robertson, Bradley Parsons and Chris Stockwell. Their latest album, "It Never Gets Old," debuted at No. 4 on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums chart. Their previous albums, "Appalachian Worship" and "Appalachian Hymns," each spent multiple weeks in the top 10.
The church received many requests to bring the group back next year, the release said.
A love offering was taken, and the band recognized Destiny Rescue, an organization that exists to rescue kids from human trafficking and sexual exploitation and equip them to stay free.
Revelation Fellowship GMC thanked those who attended and prayed for the event.
The church also invited community members to its Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and the Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.
