WILLIAMSTOWN -- First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown is sponsoring a Neighborhood Picnic again for the Williamstown community.
This will be the second annual picnic that will take place Sunday, Aug. 4, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
People are invited to drop in and participate when they can, as it is a picnic for the community. "Inspired by the words of Jesus to love our neighbors as ourselves and the vision of Presbyterian Fred Rogers who called those around him his neighbors, the goal of the picnic is to bring the community together or connect for good," the Rev. Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke said.
Worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Lions Club shelter in Tomlinson Park which will be followed by a picnic lunch from approximately 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Games and fun on the bouncy house will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Competitive games include a paper airplane flying contest, three legged race, egg and spoon relay, egg toss and cornhole tournament.
Adults and kids are invited to play and prizes (trophies and certificates) will be awarded at the closing award ceremony at 1:45 p.m. There will be free games to play too. The Kona ice truck will swing by at 1 p.m. to serve free classic size icy drinks, paid by the church.
This is already a lot of good connection but the congregation along with its sister church of Waverly Bethel Presbyterian is also inviting the community to participate in a food drive to support the Bee Bag food program that serves families in Williamstown and Waverly by collecting peanut butter, spaghetti noodles or sauce, cereal and pizza box kits.
In addition, the Gabriel Project which helps with baby and toddler needs, such as diapers, wipes, formula and more will be at the park gazebo and can help with these items for families.
