PARKERSBURG - More than 200 community members attended WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center's latest Dinner with the Docs program, "Preventative Care: Taking Steps to Better Manage the Whole You," Monday at the Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna.

The event combined expert discussion with hands-on access to preventative health resources, bringing together local healthcare providers and residents for an evening focused on preventative primary care, early detection and long-term wellness.

The evening's conversation was moderated by Tara Staats, director of ambulatory services, and featured panelists Kim Stooke, MD; William Cartwright, MD; Ronald Greer, MD; Ryan Lowers, MD; and Darcy Conner, DO.

The discussion highlighted the importance of establishing a strong primary care foundation and taking a proactive approach to managing overall health. Panelists discussed available local healthcare services, strategies for identifying potential health concerns early and the role preventative care plays in improving long-term health outcomes.

In addition to the panel discussion, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a mini health fair featuring preventative screenings, wellness resources and community health information. The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at Camden Clark also provided free EKG vouchers during the event, while low-cost lab work vouchers were made available through a partnership with the Rotary Club of Parkersburg.

Dinner with the Docs is an ongoing community education series designed to connect residents with local healthcare experts while also providing practical tools and wellness resources that support healthier lifestyles and informed healthcare decisions, according to a press release about the event.

The event was presented in part by CAS Cable, iHeart Media and North Bend Wealth Management.
