PARKERSBURG -- Catherine Bourgeois, a resident at Cedar Grove Assisted Living Facility, turned 105 on Jan. 18.
A surprise birthday party was held on Jan. 17 hosted by Cedar Grove and the South Parkersburg Women's Club. Friends and family attended and Mayor Tom Joyce issued a proclamation in her honor.
She was born in the Hemlock community of Jackson County and graduated from Ravenswood High School with the class of 1936. Catherine is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, was a homemaker, leader of the Ravenswood Hilltoppers 4-H club, a member of the Homemakers Club was employed at the former Sears Catalog store in Ravenswood.
Catherine has six children and is a grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
