PARKERSBURG -- Anna McKitrick woke up Wednesday, April 20, to welcome her 100th birthday at Love and Care Assisted Living, Parkersburg.
Her twin sister, Alice Cunningham, was no longer with her to celebrate. However, she has lots of "sisters" to celebrate with at her at the Love and Care Personal Home.
Anna has lived at Love and Care for over 13 years and considers the residents and staff to be part of her extended family.
She isn't the only resident over 100-years old Two ladies are 102. The family jokes this facility has found the fountain of youth.
During her celebration, she received 100 roses from her family provided by Dudley's Florist. It was quite a surprise, which she gladly shared with everyone spreading the flowers throughout the facility. They were colors to reference her unique personality.
In her lifetime, she tells a story about taking her mother from Cottageville to the hospital for care with a horse and wagon. She's seen world wars, lived through a depression, multiple recessions and massive technology changes. She does own a cell phone, so she has embraced some of the trends.
