The Rev. James D. Burdette and Mrs. Glenna L. Burdette are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.
They were married, only 90 days after first meeting at a roller skating rink, on Aug. 12, 1983, at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church in Hurricane, W.Va. After completing seminary in Wilmore, Ky., Jim served as pastor of six United Methodist churches in Craigsville, W.Va., Elkins, W.Va., Philippi, W.Va. and Parkersburg, along with other ministries including Kairos Prison Ministry.
Glenna worked by Jim's side in each of the churches and was later employed by the West Virginia State Tax Department. Both Jim and Glenna are retired and spend their time feeding their local wildlife, attending not one but two churches and vacationing at their beloved Greenbo Lake State Park in Greenup, Ky.
Jim and Glenna have 11 children, more than 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They are a beloved couple among their family and the communities they have been a part of these last 40 years.
