Tom and Mary Slater of Parkersburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 12, 2022.
They met on a blind date at a Valentine's Day dance in 1970. They were married at the 7th Street United Methodist Church in Parkersburg in 1972.
They built a home where they raised their daughters and enjoy entertaining friends and family. They have enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and oversees. Tom is retired from the City of Parkersburg Public Works Department and Mary is retired from Wood County Schools.
They are the parents of Elizabeth Warman (Shawn) of Morgantown and Carrie (Sean) McEwan of Seattle. They have four grandchildren, Ada, Alice, Callum, and Evan. They recently celebrated their anniversary with a visit from their children and grandchildren in July.
