Delores and Robert Watkins of Lubeck will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2022. The couple was wed in Hagerstown, Md., in 1952.
Robert retired from DuPont in 1985 after 29 years of service. He also pastored Sams Creek Baptist Church for 34 years. Delores retired from West Virginia Insurance Co. after 38 years of service.
The Watkins family included four children: Timothy (Sue) Watkins of Great Falls, Va.; Mark (Cindy) Watkins of Parkersburg; Deborah (Dana) Locke of Little Hocking, Ohio; and John (Cathy) of Elizabeth.
They are blessed with eight grandchildren: Erica (Lilith) Watkins, Christopher (Danielle) Watkins, Joshua (Erin) Watkins, Kelsey (Samuel) McLeod, Vanessa (David) Johnson, Matthew Locke, Nathaniel (Chloey) Watkins and Hannah (Cody) Hardbarger.
Eleven great-grandchildren complete the family. The portraits of the grandchildren on the mantel of the Watkins home have been replaced by portraits of the great-grandchildren whom the couple adores. Their names are: Kinslee and Kamryn Watkins, Elijah and Lucas Watkins, Danny and Able McLeod, Garrett and Karly Johnson, Thaddeus and Kennedy Watkins and Holden Hardbarger.
A private family luncheon celebration is planned on Sunday, June 26, at Colombo's Restaurant.
