Margaret (Hardman/Boggs) and William Bell (Bell/McDonald) of Olympia, Wash., celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Feb. 28, 2022.
High School sweethearts, Bill and Margaret and their families are originally from Parkersburg. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and thus started a lifetime of family travel, new homes, making friends and memories all over the United States.
The Bell family grew to include three children: Robin, Eric and Dawna, and, through military orders, lived in San Diego, Calif., Rochester, N.Y., Camp Lejeune, N.C., Wichita, Kan., Pocatello, Idaho, and Anaheim, Cardiff, Oceanside and Vista, Calif. Each new move had its joys and challenges but always they made dear, lifelong friends.
Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, the Bells moved to be closer to friends in the Pacific Northwest, first to Kirkland, then Redmond and later to La Conner, Wash. They have lived in Olympia for 17 years.
The Bell household is full of love, laughter, jokes, great conversations, happy dogs, delicious meals, Margaret's quilts, a beautiful home and garden, and music. Bill and Margaret are always looking forward to the next adventure, the next jazz festival and what new friends they will welcome into their lives. That is the secret to their 70 years of happiness.
A small dinner celebration for Margaret and Bill was held on Feb. 26. A larger celebration will be in the spring when their garden is in bloom and the sun is shining on them both.
Happy 70th anniversary Mom and Dad.
