Metz 60th Anniversary

Frank and Patty Metz of Vienna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2026, with a trip to the Amish country.

They were married at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church on June 25, 1966.

Frank retired from Shell Chemical and Patty retired from State Farm Insurance.

They have three children; Barbara (Marty) Vierheller of Vienna, Shari Metz of Parkersburg, and Bryan (Erin) of Vienna. They have three grandchildren; Ben Vierheller, Ethan Metz, and Morgan Metz.

They enjoyed a 60th anniversary dinner at Colombo’s Restaurant hosted by their children.

Casto 40th Anniversary

Douglas W. Casto Sr. and Christina L. (Stull) Casto of Walker celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2026.

They were married on June 21, 1986, at the home of Clyde and Betty Casto in Parkersburg. Douglas Sr. is the son of the late Clyde and Betty Casto. Christina is the daughter of Linda and the late Clifford Stull.

They are blessed with three children, Douglas Jr. (Kelly) Casto, Andrew Casto and Rachel (Eric) Miller. They are the proud grandparents of Emma, Douglas (III) and Rose Casto and Rowan Miller. A small family gathering will be held to celebrate this milestone with them.

70 Years: Hartline

BELPRE — Jim and Shirley Hartline of Belpre will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on March 29, 2026.

They were married in Marietta, Ohio, in 1956.

Jim is 92, and Shirley is 90. He was a pharmacist, and she worked in retail and was a homemaker. Jim said he married her because she was a wonderful cook!

Shortly after they were married, he was called to serve in the U.S. Army in Korea.

They give God praise for their happy and blessed marriage.

They had one son, Stewart, and have one grandson, Matthew, and his new wife, Chelsea. They also have one special cat, Oreo.

They would appreciate receiving cards from friends and family.

60 Years: Bonnette

Jim Sr. and Darlene Mincks Bonnette will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Feb. 26, 2026.

Jim is the son of Denver and Sara Lou Bonnette (both deceased) and is retired from Shell Chemical Co. in Belpre. Darlene is the daughter of Donald and Dorothy Mincks (both deceased) and is retired from Marietta College.

The couple has two children, Jim Jr. (Darla) Bonnette and Angie (Steve) Freed, three grandchildren, their spouses and spouses-to-be, several stepgrandchildren and spouses, two great-grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

67 Years: Rippeto

Keith and Karen Rippeto of Lubeck, W.Va., celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with a small family gathering.

After attending West Virginia University on a gymnastics scholarship, Keith entered the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command. After serving, he then worked at E.I. DuPont for 47 years in the Engineering Department and retired in 2008. Karen was secretary for Gene Ingersoll, manager of the Parkersburg News and Sentinel. She also taught the Title 1 Project at Lubeck School for the Board of Education. They traveled extensively with their children, with Keith calling Western square dancing and Karen as the bookkeeper. Their travels included all 50 states plus several foreign countries. Keith retired from calling in 2013.

Keith and Karen were married in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, on Jan. 17, 1959, by the Rev. Marion Duncan at the Catlettsburg Baptist Church. They are blessed to have been together raising a family of three children, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Since the fourth grade, Keith has been the love of Karen’s life, and they pray to have many more years together.

50 Years: Drain

Larry and Connie Drain of Washington, W.Va., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28, 2025. Larry is the son of Don and Ruth Drain of Parkersburg, W.Va. Connie is the daughter of the late Lester and Geneva Wigal. They have been blessed with four daughters: Julie Drain, Stacy (David) Prunty, Christy (Kris) Gillespie and Katie (Shawn) Brooker and five grandchildren Tyler Shelton, Dominic Brooker, Sophi Horadan-Prunty and Morgan and Easton Gillespie. The family invites people to join them in celebrating their golden anniversary from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Hopewell Church of Christ.

65 Years: Brown

Jerry and Linda Smith will be celebrating 60 years of marriage on September 17. They were married September 17, 1965, by the Reverend Carol McCouley at the Pleasant Hill Church in Calhoun County. Jerry is the son of the late Conda and Goldie Smith, and Linda is the daughter of the late Hall and Tressa Francis. They have one daughter, Leah Carpenter of Mineral Wells, and two grandsons, Christopher of Parkersburg, and Justin of Mineral Wells. Jerry is a Vietnam Veteran having served all of 1967 as a certified aircraft welder and retired after 34 years at E. I. DuPont. Linda was a housewife. They both say it has been a great life together. 55 Years: Carpenter

Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Carpenter of Rockport will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 30. The couple were married on Aug. 30, 1970, in Parkersburg, by the late Warren Fluharty. Gregory worked as a certified welder at American Municipal Power of Ohio (Amp-Ohio) until his retirement. Linda is a homemaker. They have one daughter, Melissa Tingler (Dustin) of Rockport and one granddaughter, Ashley (Joseph) and two great-grandchildren, Augustus and Rose Matheny of Washington. The family will have a celebration at their family farm.

50 Years: Archer

Dale and Martha Archer are celebrating their 50th anniversary today. They were married Aug. 8, 1975, by the Rev. Eisenhower.

Dale is the son of the late Ellsworth and Oncie Archer. He is retired from CSX and EDI. Martha is the daughter of the late Ralph and Wilma Cross. She is retired from the Board of Education.

They are the parents of Melissa (Erick) Stuart of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Elizabeth Lipscomb of Rockport, W.Va. They are the grandparents of Luke Stuart of Columbus, Ind.; Jacob Stuart of Waldron, Ind., and Katelynn Lipscomb of Rockport, W.Va.
